This year Kaldewei brought a moment of calm to the sometimes-frenetic activity that surrounds Milan Design Week with the Nuio Duo bathtub Zen Edition. A key element in their Bubbles of Time installation the Nuio Duo takes bathing to a new dimension with infrared heat, light and sound merging into a unique experience – a journey where you can immerse yourself and let go.
The Nuio Duo in the Zen Edition is a totally new generation of luxury and wellness bathtubs combining innovative high-tech features with centuries-old Zen philosophy. In this instance the bathtub becomes a private retreat where infrared heat and sound waves gently embrace the bather whilst atmospheric lighting adds the finishing touch to a multisensory symphony, bringing stillness to body and mind.
A bath that you can use with or without water. The new innovative Kaldewei Heat Wave technology allows for the entire body of the Nuio Duo Zen Edition bathtub to be precisely regulated with infrared radiant heat. Regardless of the water temperature or in fact whether the bath contains water at all. The ergonomically shaped, extra-deep Nuio Duo Zen Edition enables you to enjoy a dry or wet bath, as the effect of the infrared radiation is immediate – think of the gentle glow of a wood burning stove or the warm rays of the sun on the snow, the heat penetrates the skin with soothing energy.
The minimalist design follows the principles of Zen and leading designer Stefan Diez is responsible for the elegant and clean lines of the Nuio Duo. The physical product is durable, hygienic, and made in Germany from recyclable steel enamel, using environmentally friendly production methods The bath is a design commitment to LUXSTAINABILITY® in its most beautiful form.
Ancient principals and carefree relaxation may be the ultimate goal of the Zen Edition, however, cutting edge, modern-day technology is required to achieve this. The bath offers numerous functions including Kaldewei’s Sound Wave, the invisible sound system transforms the bathtub into a 360° sound box and provides a unique musical experience that can be felt above and below the water. Which is accompanied by adaptive ambient lighting softly flowing, providing a broad colour spectrum to create a mood-enhancing ambiance and soothe tired eyes.
All of which can be controlled and individually adjusted via a discreet control panel on the edge of the tub. The advanced LCD display with intuitive slider function shows all the current settings, including the water temperature, lighting and sound options, with its elegant diamond-pattern finish it is accessible from inside and outside the tub, and allows the bath to be filled easily whilst stylishly integrating the overflow.
Another highlight of the show was the stunning Meisterstück Classic Duo Oval, the epitome of the free-standing bathtub with a new narrower edge bringing with it a delicate elegance. Created from a single sheet of steel and featuring the highest quality materials, this bathtub is ideal for anyone who appreciates stylish aesthetics and uncompromising quality.
The new Dusty Pink colour variant, was developed specifically for the Bubbles of Time installation, with the shade paying homage to Portaluppi’s marble tones from Palazzo Crespi and translating them into a contemporary colour for the world of today.
Kaldewei Meisterstück Classic Duo Oval is elegantly understated the new waste and overflow fitting provides both an aesthetic and functional highlight. Whilst the Dusty Pink, freestanding bathtub looked divine in its setting in the Palazzo Crespi in the very heart of Milan, other shades are available including classic Alpine White and eight other elegant matt colours from the Coordinated Colours Collection.
