Orbit Homes, part of not-for-profit housing group Orbit and a HBF 5-star rated housebuilder, welcomed Jerome Mayhew MP for a visit to its recently launched Victoria Gardens development in Norfolk, where it’s helping to meet local housing need.
Victoria Gardens in Great Plumstead, comprises 272 new one, two, three, four and five-bedroom homes. Over half of the homes are for social rent, affordable rent and Shared Ownership, to help boost the availability of affordable homes in the local area, with the remaining homes for purchase through market sale.
During the tour, Jerome viewed the new homes being built and heard how Orbit Homes has designed the homes at Victoria Gardens to support customers with energy efficiency and affordability. All homes will feature enhanced insulation, solar PV panels and electric vehicle charging points, with some homes also utilising Air Source Heat Pump heating systems.
Orbit Homes colleagues also shared more about the environmental plans for the development, which will include large areas of public open space, an orchard, and the use of bird boxes and bat boxes to help shelter local wildlife and promote biodiversity.
Jerome was also told about Orbit Homes’ tenure-blind commitment to construction, meaning that all new homes at Victoria Gardens benefit from the same exceptional standards of design, safety and customer service, regardless of tenure.
