Thirty-three new affordable homes for local families have now been completed in Malvern.
Housing provider Bromford has built the homes in the Barnards Green area of Malvern, on land off the junction of Thirlstane Road, Court Road and St Andrew’s Road.
Catherine Jarrett, Regional Director at Bromford, said:
“These homes have been a long time coming and I’m pleased we’ve finally reached this point.
“House prices here have been out of reach for many local families for years. These homes are for people with a connection to the area who need somewhere they can afford.”
Councillor Malcolm Victory, who sits on both Malvern Hills District Council and Worcestershire County Council, said:
“I am delighted that this development is finally ready to house residents.
“I inspected the homes recently and found them comfortable and relatively spacious, with great views front and back of either the Hills or the College playing fields.
“To say it has been a long haul does not do it justice, and I have pushed hard over several years to see it finished. Congratulations to Bromford for their persistence.”
The homes are a mix of red brick and render, and built to be energy efficient. Most have an EPC rating of either B or A – the top band – against a national average of D. The scheme was funded with support from Homes England.
The land was previously the Barrack Stores part of the old QinetiQ estate. The site backs onto Malvern College’s playing fields, with Barnards Green and its shops, cafés and pubs a few minutes’ walk away. The Malvern Hills rise a short distance to the west.
Bromford is part of Bromford Flagship LiveWest (BFL), which has almost 300,000 customers across the southwest, central and east of England. BFL is the UK’s largest provider of new affordable homes, delivering over 3,000 new homes each year.
