Construction starts on 38 new affordable homes in Horndean

VIVID, in partnership with Imperial Homes, has started construction on 38 new affordable homes in Horndean, marking the start of a new community.

Located off Chalk Hill Road, the development will bring a mix of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5- bedroom homes to the area. All 38 homes will be affordable, with a mix of social rent and shared ownership.

The new homes will include sustainable features such as EV chargers and air source heat pumps. There’ll also be dedicated outdoor space where customers and the wider community can spend time, connect and enjoy the surroundings.

Sunita Aujla, Land and New Business Director at VIVID, said:

“It’s always great to see construction begin and watch plans for new homes start to come to life. These 38 affordable homes will give more people the chance to put down roots in Horndean and be part of a local community. Good homes make a real difference to people’s lives, and this development is part of our wider work to invest in new and existing homes and create more affordable places to live across the south of England.”

Ben Olds, Director at Imperial Homes, said:

“We are delighted to be working with VIVID again, we have a longstanding and robust relationship, and this project further strengthens our partnership and portfolio on the South Coast. The site at Chalk Hill will deliver 38 affordable properties, providing much needed social housing within the borough. Like VIVID, we are eager to see the project come to life and offer the homes to the market and local people.”

The new homes are expected to be completed in Autumn 2028.
