William Davis welcomes nine new recruits to its industry leading apprenticeship programme

Loughborough-based housebuilder William Davis Homes has recently welcomed nine new apprentices to the business.

The developer has one of the leading apprenticeship programmes in the industry, which first started in the 1970s, providing the platform for construction careers across trades both on site and in-house.

This year, William Davis has enrolled apprentice plumbers, bricklayers, scaffolders, electricians and joiners to its scheme.

Around 90 per cent of apprentices who begin their careers with William Davis go on to commit to full-time employment with the developer, often progressing through to senior roles within the business.

Melissa Cook, HR manager at William Davis, said: “It has been a pleasure to welcome our newest apprentice intake to William Davis this year and we’re really looking forward to working with all nine of this year’s cohort as they begin their journeys with us.

“William Davis has proudly supported hundreds of construction careers in their formative years through our industry-leading apprenticeship programme, which has been running for more than half a century.

“We have a really good mix of trades and skills through the apprentices joining us this time around, and this will provide lots of opportunities for our on-site mentors and teams to provide their knowledge and experience as we help guide the new starters through their apprenticeship with us.”

The housebuilder currently has more than 30 apprentices who receive both hands-on training and college learning as part of the programme to help them develop towards full-time careers in the industry.

It provides the chance to ‘earn while you learn’, while gaining a professional qualification and establishing a career.

William Davis welcomes a new cohort of apprentices each year and names an Apprentice of the Year at its annual apprentice awards event.
