Weaver Vale Housing Trust has officially started site preparation works on a new affordable housing development in Winterley that will deliver 54 much-needed homes for local people.
The development, located off Crewe Road, will provide a mix of 30 social rent homes and 24 shared ownership homes, helping to meet growing demand for affordable housing in Cheshire East.
The new neighbourhood will include a range of high-quality homes designed to support different housing needs, including apartments, bungalows and family houses.
Several homes have been designed to support people with mobility needs, with ground-floor apartments and bungalows featuring wet rooms and adaptable layouts.
All homes will be energy efficient and will benefit from modern features including solar panels and electric vehicle charging points, helping residents reduce their energy costs while supporting a more sustainable future.
Construction is expected to take around two years, with the first homes anticipated to be completed in 2028.

Funding for the scheme has been secured through Homes England’s new 2026-36 Social and Affordable Homes programme. Through its long-standing membership of the JV North consortium, WVHT successfully secured grant funding to support the delivery of the development.

“The consortium celebrates 15 years of delivering high-quality affordable homes during the timescale of this project, and WVHT has been huge contributors to the achievements during that time, which has seen over 10,000 people housed through the efforts of members. These new homes will see many more people housed in the coming months.”
The scheme is being delivered in partnership with Breck Homes and forms part of Weaver Vale Housing Trust’s ongoing programme to increase the supply of affordable housing across the region.
