10 Years On: VELFAC Still Delivers

A decade after Alec and Stephanie Wilson completed their self-build in the Leicestershire countryside, their VELFAC windows and doors still look and perform like new.

“Even on dull days, the house floods with light,” says Alec. “It lifts your mood.”

Built to Last

Chosen for slim frames, large formats, and thermal performance, the VELFAC units have stood the test of time. The composite design — aluminium outside, timber inside — offers durability with minimal maintenance.

Designed for Light and Views

The south-facing home is shaped to maximise light and privacy. A fully glazed wall opens onto the garden, while a 3.5m VELFAC sliding door connects the primary bedroom to a balcony with uninterrupted views.

A Second Time with VELFAC

Alec used VELFAC in his first self-build and didn’t hesitate to specify them again. “Once I saw the composite upgrade, I was sold.”

Smart, Sustainable Living

Double glazing supports energy efficiency, alongside solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and a ground source heat pump. Alec adds: “If I could change one thing, I’d have gone for triple glazing — just to satisfy the perfectionist in me.”
