Allison Homes South West has made two senior appointments to strengthen its land team as it accelerates its regional expansion. The new hires will play a vital role in securing the land opportunities needed to deliver the housebuilder’s ambitious growth plans, following recent milestones including the opening of new headquarters in Bristol and major acquisitions including a new £165m scheme in Longmoor and Congresbury, worth more than £30m.
James Morgan joins as land & partnerships director and James Winfield as land & partnerships manager. Their arrival follows the recent appointment of David Hynda as sales director, further bolstering the division’s leadership team as it expands across the South West.
With more than 15 years’ industry experience, Morgan brings with him a strong track record, having led land acquisition programmes that secured over £200m of development land in the South West. Over the course of his career, he has been responsible for transactions worth in excess of £1bn.
In his new role, he’ll be responsible for delivering an ambitious acquisition programme that spans both immediate opportunities and longer-term prospects. He said: “My priority is to secure a robust land pipeline to underpin the business plan in the short to medium term, while also building the partnerships and future opportunities that will allow the region to scale significantly over the next five years. Our recent acquisitions at Longmoor and Congresbury demonstrate the progress we’ve already made and provide the foundation for us to drive growth at pace.”
James Winfield has been with Allison Homes since 2020. Having started as a graduate land buyer in Peterborough, he quickly progressed to land manager following a series of successful acquisition and partnership deals. One of his recent highlights includes the acquisition of land which achieved planning permission, land completion and start on site within just three days.
Originally from Cirencester, James has relocated back to the South West to take up his new position. He comments: “This is a fantastic opportunity to return to my home region at a time when Allison Homes South West is on a rapid growth trajectory. My priority is to secure immediate land opportunities with planning consent so we can deliver homes quickly and help build on the strong momentum the business has already achieved.”
Glyn Mabey, managing director for Allison Homes South West, concluded: “Securing the right land opportunities is critical to our growth and these appointments will help us to deliver on that. James Morgan brings extensive experience and a proven track record at a senior level while James Winfield combines local knowledge with the energy and drive that has already seen him progress quickly within the business. This is another important step in Allison Homes South West’s journey and together, they will play a vital role in building a strong pipeline that supports our ambitious expansion strategy and ensure we continue to build on our recent achievements in the region.”
