Bellway has completed the purchase of land to build 82 low-carbon homes within the new Mowbray Village development in North Horsham.
The acquisition follows the submission of a reserved matters planning application earlier this year, for a range of one, two, three and four-bedroom properties, all featuring air source heat pumps and electric vehicle charging points.
Outline planning permission for up to 2,750 homes along with a business park, retail units, community centre, and leisure and education facilities on land north of the A264 was granted in 2018.
If the plans are approved, Bellway could start construction work on site in the autumn.
Fern Whiles, Planning Manager for Bellway Southern Counties, said: “Our detailed plans are for a landscape-led development that respects its surroundings.
“Meticulous work has taken place to ensure that our proposal complies with the Mowbray Park Design and Landscape Strategy and Design Code and therefore blends perfectly with the area and with other developments in the wider project that are under construction or have consent to go ahead.
“With a mix of affordable and private homes and a range of house styles including detached, semi-detached and terraced properties, there are options for a wide range of customers with different requirements, and the street scenes will be varied and thoughtfully planned.
“Our plans will provide much needed high-quality homes in an attractive setting with open space including a children’s play area. All existing trees on site will be retained and there will be additional planting including most areas of public open space being seeded with wildflowers to support biodiversity.”
Bellway’s plans comprise 72 properties for private sale, featuring two, three and four-bedroom houses, and 10 affordable homes ranging from one and two-bedroom maisonettes to four-bedroom houses.
