dormakaba sets new standards in movable wall design with Zero-Joint Technology

Style Group, part of the dormakaba Group, is bringing a new dimension to movable wall design with DORMA Hüppe’s innovative Zero-Joint Technology, combining seamless aesthetics, lasting quality and independently verified low emissions.

The technology creates a premium, seamless appearance, with panel surfaces and edges appearing as one continuous material. Advanced laser bonding eliminates the visible joint line associated with conventional edge banding, delivering a refined finish for contemporary architectural interiors.

For long-term durability, all four edges of the cover panels are protected, helping prevent moisture ingress through exposed edges. Independently tested low VOC emissions, including formaldehyde levels approximately 95% below the new European limit, also make the panels particularly relevant for projects prioritising indoor air quality and sustainable building design, including BREEAM and LEED.

“With Zero-Joint Technology, we combine precision manufacturing techniques with high-quality materials to deliver aesthetically sophisticated movable wall solutions that also contribute to indoor air quality targets,” says Michael Porter, Managing Director of Style Group Ltd.

Conventional movable wall manufacture requires a layer of hot-melt adhesive to secure edge banding, leaving fine joint lines which detract from the overall design. DORMA Hüppe’s advanced laser bonding process joins the edging material directly to the panel, creating a smooth, visually seamless transition between the two surfaces and giving the impression of a single, continuous piece of material.

Edge banding is not only for aesthetic purposes but also provides protection, improving the long-term durability of the panel, which is why DORMA Hüppe applies the material to all four outside edges, rather than the more common practice of covering just the visible side edges.

Alongside design, indoor air quality is a key consideration. In August 2026, EU Regulation 2023/1464 introduced stricter formaldehyde emission limits for furniture and wood-based products.

Independent testing under Germany’s AgBB scheme confirms that DORMA Hüppe Zero-Joint Technology movable wall panels emit just 3 µg/m³ of formaldehyde – around 95% below the new EU limit of 62 µg/m³. These low emissions support healthier indoor environments across offices, hotels, schools and public buildings, complementing adaptable space design with high standards of material quality and sustainability.
