Flagship repairs team tops national benchmarking figures

A repairs and maintenance team working across the east of England has come out top nationally in the latest monthly benchmarking figures for the housing sector.

Flagship’s maintenance team, which is part of Bromford Flagship LiveWest (BFL), led the field in Housemark’s May 2026 data. Housemark is the data and insight body for UK housing, and its monthly figures let landlords see how their services stack up against everyone else’s.

In May the team completed 97.1 per cent of non-emergency repairs within target timescales, the strongest performance recorded nationally that month. Just 2.93 per cent of repairs were still open at the end of May, again the lowest figure in the country. These achievements follow Flagship’s transition to a predominantly in-house delivery model, with the majority of repairs now carried out by its own trades teams rather than external contractors.

Flagship Services carried out 173 repairs per 1,000 properties, the lowest level of responsive repair demand recorded nationally, demonstrating the effectiveness of its integrated approach to asset management and property maintenance.

Michael Durrant, Interim Director of Asset Management at BFL, said: “This is a fantastic result, and a credit to everyone who has worked hard to transform the service. It’s down to our trades colleagues turning up at people’s front doors and getting the job done well. To be top of the table nationally is a tribute to their skill and graft.

“A repairs service is where customers feel their landlord’s performance most directly. Getting repairs done quickly, and getting them right, is one of the most important things we do, and this tells us the changes we’ve made are working.”

Those changes include a two-year transformation project which overhauled how repairs are scheduled, tracked and delivered, alongside investment in training and equipment for trades colleagues.

Mr Durrant said: “We’re not complacent, this only helps us want to improve further as we invest in customers homes. Being top of a table isn’t the goal in itself. Keeping our customers’ homes safe, warm and well maintained is.

“But it’s right to stop and recognise what this team has achieved.”

BFL is the UK’s largest provider of new affordable homes, with almost 300,000 customers in around 120,000 homes across the east, central and south-west of England.
