VMZINC is a material that brings together both good design and excellent craftmanship since the company was founded back in 1837. To formalise the installation aspect, the VMZINC at Work program was introduced to the UK and Ireland almost 15 years ago. VMZINC at Work is a partnership between VMZINC and roofing contractors to improve quality. Partners are contractors that have a proven track record in fitting VMZINC roofs and facades and commit to attending annual training courses so that they are aware of the latest products, systems and recommendations. VMZINC at Work partners can also offer 50 year material warranties. Here are some recent examples of their work.
The Consall Estate redevelopment near Stoke, a hotel and wedding venue by CTD Architects includes a dramatic building where North West Metal Roofing have installed Pigmento Red standing seam roofs and facades. The same standing seam technique was used on a very different type of design in the West End by Make Architects, 30 Duke Street. All Metal Roofing installed QUARTZ-ZINC on the mansards as well as the dormer windows showing the flexibility of VMZINC. Moving west to Chiswick, Assorted Skills and Talents have carried out an elegant retrofit of the Quintin boathouse. Salmon solutions installed the ANTHRA-ZINC on the roof, facades and as a rain water system. The Leeds Gateway is a 13 storey residential scheme by Enjoy Design Architects, Just Hard Metals installed QUARTZ-ZINC standing seam panels on a non-combustible substrate. It should also be noted that VMZINC in all finishes is A1 non-combustible.
In addition to fire performance BRE EPDS state that a service life of 100 years should be expected with very limited maintenance. Furthermore at the end of its life, zinc is 100% recyclable and over 97% of old zinc roofs are indeed recycled. This has a very significant effect on the reduction of zinc ore extraction and energy use.
All installers can also take pride in that at the end of 2024 the skill of the zinc roofer was given UNESCO world heritage status. Whilst this honour is more for the zinc installers of Paris, it can be considered as a badge of honour for all installers of VMZINC.
