Housebuilder Honey granted planning for five sites

Housebuilder Honey has been granted planning for five sites across Yorkshire and Derbyshire that will deliver 722 new build homes and revenues of £202m.

The Sheffield-headquartered housebuilder will deliver developments in Duckmanton, near Chesterfield; Rossington, near Doncaster; Maltby, near Rotherham; and Fenay Bridge, near Huddersfield.

In addition, Honey has also been given consent for the second phase of its development in Waverley, near Rotherham.

Since being launched in October 2022, Honey has secured 22 sites across Yorkshire and the Midlands that will deliver 3,075 homes and a combined gross development value of £857m.

The company is backed by private equity firm Alchemy Partners and its Alchemy Special Opportunities Fund IV which has £937m of fully committed capital.

Honey is currently successfully selling homes from 10 developments, ranging from Iris in Goldthorpe, near Barnsley, to Homes by Honey at Thoresby Vale in Edwinstowe, near Nottingham.

Honey chief executive officer, Mark Mitchell, commented: “Securing planning for these five sites is the latest significant milestone in our growth strategy and further establishes Honey as a housebuilding brand within Yorkshire and the Midlands.

“We undertook detailed market research in and around each development to assess demand and gain consumer insights. Our research found that our high specification, sustainable homes will offer buyers more and we believe they are unmatched at their respective price points.

“We now look forward to progressing the sites and further expanding Honey’s development footprint in line with our controlled expansion plans.”

Honey employs 101 people across two operating regions which have their head offices in Sheffield and Leeds.

The housebuilder analysed consumer trends to inform its 23 house type designs to ensure they meet the needs and wants of today’s new home buyers, including the flexible use of living spaces.

Standard features in every Honey home include bi fold doors; individually designed fully integrated kitchens; and boutique style bathrooms with a signature free standing bath and full height tiling.
