Coastal Lifestyle Destination Marks Iconic Tower Project for Lead8 in Hainan
Hong Kong, 3 March 2026 – Construction is underway on Azure Bay, a landmark mixed-use tower development in Sanya Bay, Hainan, with Lead8 appointed as the Architectural Designer for the office and hotel tower, retail precinct and cultural pavilion.
Located along Sanya’s celebrated bayfront, Azure Bay occupies a prime position between Shengli Road and Sanya Bay Road – corridors that connect key commercial and lifestyle districts across the city. Facing a 20‑kilometre beachfront promenade, the development combines scenic ocean views with direct urban connectivity, reinforcing its role as a focal point for business, leisure, and tourism.
“We are proud to see Lead8’s tall building design expertise shaping Sanya’s iconic coastline,” said Simon Chua, Co Founder & Executive Director. “Azure Bay masterfully blends vertical architecture with thoughtful placemaking, creating a vibrant destination that harmonises urban vitality with the timeless beauty of Sanya Bay.”
Where City, Sea and Community Connect
The design concept brings to life a dynamic network of spaces centred on connection and community along the waterfront. The masterplan integrates vertical and horizontal forms with the tower serving as an urban beacon, while the surrounding podium nurtures a vibrant retail, culture and leisure precinct. Together, these components create a destination that promotes sustainable living and a strong sense of local identity.
“Azure Bay is more than a destination; it is a dialogue between the city, the sea, and its people. Through a fluid architectural language inspired by the ocean, we wanted to create spaces that reflect Sanya’s coastal rhythm and capture the city’s evolving spirit,” shared Ethan Wang, Associate – Architecture at Lead8.
Sustainability and cultural expression are core themes across the scheme. The design adopts green building technologies responding to Sanya’s tropical climate, while art and cultural programmes weave a social thread throughout the spaces. The retail precinct celebrates material craftsmanship – balancing natural stone and metal detailing with transparent, light-filled interiors.
Developed by CTS Properties, Azure Bay will stand as a new gateway along Sanya’s golden coastline once completed – a celebration of contemporary urban lifestyle and the city’s enduring connection with the sea.
