Clement Windows Group has manufactured and installed new, bespoke steel windows at The Wye College Collection in Kent.
Wye College was founded in 1497 by Cardinal John Kempe and originally established to train priests and educate local boys. Later, it became a renowned agricultural college, part of the University of London and then Imperial College.
After closing in 2009, the Grade I and II listed Medieval and Edwardian buildings stood empty for more than a decade, but they have now been transformed into The Wye College Collection, a development of 50 sensitively restored, unique, luxury residences.
Clement’s experience working on Listed Buildings was particularly valuable when it came to producing the replacement fenestration for a number of the new homes on the site. The Clement team crafted genuine leaded light windows which were fitted directly to the beautiful stone frames. Above these, they installed steel fall back windows, which are bottom hung and open inwards, from their SMW range. They also manufactured the steel double door sets using strong W20 steel profiles. All of the windows and doors were designed to closely match the original fenestration with silicone fronting.
