New social housing development in Cadishead to deliver nine affordable homes by Spring 2027

Social housing landlord ForHousing, in partnership with Homes England, is proud to announce that works have begun on site for the new development at 168–172 Liverpool Road, Cadishead. The scheme will deliver nine high-quality homes, including six one-bedroom and three two-bedroom affordable homes, all for social rent.

This £2,351,776 scheme reflects ForHousing’s ongoing commitment to providing safe, secure, and affordable homes that meet the needs of local communities. With funding support of £990,000 from Homes England, the scheme will help to address the growing demand for social housing in the area.

Located in Cadishead, the homes will be built to modern standards, offering energy-efficient living spaces designed to support residents’ wellbeing and long-term sustainability.

Salford City Mayor Paul Dennett said:

“It’s wonderful to see work starting on the Liverpool Road site. We are thrilled that we have been able to work collaboratively across the community to welcome in this development, which will provide nine safe and secure new homes.

“The prospect of apprenticeships and employment opportunities for local contractors has generated a positive buzz, and it’s positive to see the enthusiasm for the scheme.”

Clare Tostevin, Executive Director of Investment and Growth at ForHousing, said:

“We are continuously striving to help our local communities not only by providing quality, affordable homes, but by opening doors to employment opportunities, and the Liverpool Road development is a testament to that.

“We will continue to engage with the community and provide updates on the works, in order to nurture a positive community spirit which has already been present in abundance.”

The scheme, which is due to complete in Spring 2027, will create opportunities for local contractors as well as openings for apprentices to gain valuable experience and develop skills for future employment.
