February 2026, Whitburn – Story Homes is pleased to announce the submission of a full planning application to South Tyneside Council for a proposed new residential development on land off Mill Lane, Whitburn.

The proposals include enhanced areas of public open space, a new children’s play area, and a comprehensive SuDS strategy to manage surface water sustainably. Biodiversity and sustainability are central to the scheme, with green spaces thoughtfully integrated throughout the development.

If approved, the development would not only provide much-needed new housing but also bring economic benefits to Whitburn. The construction phase is expected to generate employment opportunities through Story Homes’ supply chain, and the completed homes would support local shops, services, and community facilities.
