Visitors flock to South East Homebuilding & Renovating Show

The South East Homebuilding & Renovating Show, held at the Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre on 15-16 January, surpassed all expectations as the first of the 2022 Homebuilding & Renovating Shows and set the benchmark for all live events taking place this year, not just for self-build and property renovation but for the entire UK events industry calendar.

A total of 8,705 visitors attended the Farnborough event, which kickstarted the HBRS schedule for 2022.  The show opened with 150 exhibitors from a variety of sectors, boosted by free daily seminars and masterclasses covering kitchens; bathrooms; doors and windows; extensions and conversions; eco and heating; architecture; design; financial services; planning permissions and much more.

Nick Noble, event director for the Homebuilding & Renovating Show, is delighted with the weekend, saying:

“The South East Show was a huge success, better than we could have asked for. While Omicron hit the UK in mid-December, we decided to hold our nerve and go ahead with the show, albeit with some trepidation from our exhibitors regarding their return on investment. With registrations increasing in January, the show converted visitors’ initial interest into attendance and exceeded our expectations, overwhelming our exhibitors and vindicating our decision to go ahead. It’s clear people are craving live events and interaction with specialists and experts in their field as well as the desire to touch and feel high quality products. The South East Show has now set the tone for the 2022 events calendar, and we are already looking forward to the next show at the NEC in March.”

Advice from design, planning and construction experts, including ‘DIY SOS’ and ‘60 Minute Makeover’ interior designer Julia Kendell were on hand to offer interactive consultations, specialist advice and tips on all aspects associated with self-build and renovation to assist visitors in realising their property ambitions.

Julia presented her new ‘Virtual Room Design Service’ that provides online interior expertise to those needing help with creating well-functioning one-off rooms that uplift and energise to have a positive impact on wellbeing.

Other experts at this year’s South East Show included property expert Michael Holmes, who has presented over 150 property shows for the likes of ITV and BBC, including ‘Good Bid Good Buy’ and ‘Build, Buy or Restore?’  He was on hand to offer design guides on home staples such as kitchens and extensions.  Also participating was eco genius David Hilton who hosted sessions on how best to heat your home economically and sustainably.
