Weaver Vale Housing Trust (WVHT) has completed the transfer of ownership of 47 affordable homes in Congleton, strengthening its commitment to providing high-quality housing for its communities across Cheshire and Warrington.
Delivered as part of a second-phase stock transfer agreement with housing provider L&Q, the homes are a mix of affordable rent and shared ownership.
The earlier stock transfer, taking place in 2025, saw over 90 homes in Daresbury and Haslington acquired by WVHT from L&Q.
The new homes support WVHT’s ‘Our Homes and Places’ strategy, which focuses on meeting the needs of existing and new customers by providing safe, desirable, and high-quality homes across Cheshire and Warrington.
Gemma Wood, Director of Regeneration & New Homes at WVHT, said:
“This latest stock transfer is another positive step in delivering our long-term plans to provide more affordable housing across Cheshire, with homes where people feel safe, comfortable, and proud to live.
“Working in partnership with organisations like L&Q helps us to continue building sustainable communities, meaning more families can access high-quality housing while benefitting from the services and support we provide as a Cheshire based local housing provider.”
Ben Townsend, New Business Director NW at L&Q, said:
“After consulting with residents, we have decided to proceed with the transfer of homes in Congleton to Weaver Vale Housing Trust, a locally based landlord who we believe is best placed to provide an excellent service to residents.
“As an organisation, we consider homes for transfer where they sit outside our core areas of Greater London and Greater Manchester. This supports our strategic decision to focus activity on areas where we have the greatest concentration of homes, enabling us to provide responsive, joined up services which offer best value for residents.”
